Parishioners in Quebec for the International Eucharistic Congress
On Thursday, June 19, 2008 Fr. Daniel Mentassana and Mother Regina Pacis accompanied a group of 15 parishioners from our parish in Toronto on a pilgrimage to Quebec in order to participate in the 49th International Eucharistic Congress. We were able to participate in the Procession with the Blessed Sacrament along with 25,000 Catholics from around the world. We also attended the closing Mass in which Pope Benedict XVI delivered his Homily via satellite from Rome.

During these days we also made pilgrimages to shrines of Our Lady and to the chapels of some of the French-Canadian Saints of Quebec, even having the opportunity to venerate the relics.

Especially memorable was our visit to the relics of Blessed Marie de l’Incarnation who rests in a small oratory at the Ursuline’s convent. This little-known blessed founded the first school in North America.  May God Bless Canada through the fruits of the Eucharistic Congress and the intercessions of the local saints and blesseds!

Thanksgiving Mass and Celebration with the children of our After-School Program
June 24th approximately 30 children from our After-School Program gathered in our Parish to participate in the Mass of Thanksgiving and celebration for the end of the school year.  The After-School Program brings together neighborhood children from North York with sisters and volunteers every Wednesday afternoon.

The children are able to complete unfinished homework, have snacks and participate in different recreational activities. The purpose of this program is to encourage these children, from the early years, to grow in the knowledge of our faith and live virtuous and saintly lives.

We give thanks to God for the many graces received through this apostolate and beseech Him to grant our children the grace to remain always in the friendship with God.
