On August 16, the Feast of St. Rocco, our newly completed pastoral center was blessed and inaugurated as the ‘Centro San Roque.’ His Eminence Justin Cardinal Rigali then led the people in procession to the open field where the new parish itself will be built. The opening Mass for the Popular Mission in St. John the Evangelist Church on the Pomeroon River took place on Sunday, August 8, 2010. This marked the beginning of an historical event for the community: the first Popular Mission ever to be held there in since the parish was established 108 years ago... The mission included daily house visits on the river, and summer school activities for children and youth.
