Our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, says that
the youth are the future of the Church.
With this exhortation in mind the
Religious Family of the Institute of the Incarnate Word hosts a Youth
Festival each year. The IVE Youth Festival followed the theme that
Pope Benedict XVI chose for the Youth Days of 2006 celebrated in the local churches:
Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and light unto my way (Ps. 119:105).

18th Anniversary of The Servants of the Lord and the Virgin

band from the hands of Cardinal McCarrick, and was
crowned with flowers as symbol of her Espousal with
Jesus Christ.
Sisters Maria Ina Namin and Maria Jerosolimitana

Trip to Guyana
|
|
Mother Mary Mother of Mercy
McDunnough, our Provincial Superior, and Mother Maria
de la Caridad traveled to Guyana from March 3 to March
11, 2006 to visit the places where our sisters plan to
found a new mission in September. The trip included the
towns of Charity and Santa Rosa where the Priests of the
Incarnate Word have missions. The Mothers visited
schools, a lunch program run by the Fathers, a home for
boys started by the Fathers, and some of the many
churches and chapels.
This trip gave the Mothers an opportunity to meet the people
of Guyana, to become familiar with the culture and way of
life, and to determine what needs to be done in order to
start this exciting new foundation.

"For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb
leaped for joy" (Lk. 1:44). In the gospel of Luke, Mary the Mother of God goes to visit
Elizabeth and at the sound of Mary's voice, the baby in Elizabeth's womb leaped for joy.
From the moment of conception, life is formed in a mother's womb. Every year
since the 1973 Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade that made abortion legal, people
have been gathering on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. to voice their
opposition to abortion and to pray that one day
this precedent will be overturned. This year the March for Life was held in Washington, D.C.
on Monday, January 23rd, 2006. Our Religious Family brought
youth from our parishes to participate in the March and to join the
25,000 other young people in the Youth Mass held at the MCI Center. We
then joined the other marchers in prayer and song from the White House
to the Supreme Court. Please join us to pray and be a voice for the cry to the unborn.
The Religious Family of the Incarnate Word welcomed over 300 youth and adults from all around the
United States and Canada to join us in the March for Life. This included:
- St. James Catholic Church, Mount Rainer, MD
- Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Santa Clara, CA
- St. Gabriel's Parish Catholic Church, Brooklyn, NY
- St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Brooklyn, NY
- Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Brooklyn, NY
- St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Bronx, NY
- St. Paul's Catholic Church, Harlem, NY
- St. George Catholic Church, Bridgeport, CT
- St. Veronica's Catholic Church, Philadelphia, PA
- Misíon Santa Maria, Avondale, PA
- St. Augustine Catholic Church, Toronto, Canada
