Thomistic Studies 2007: Causality

This year's Thomistic Studies were held from March 13th to the 16th at the IVE Fulton Sheen House of Formation in Chillum, MD. The theme was "Causality" which was addressed by 33 speakers including Priests, Seminarians, and Sisters along with three guest speakers. Dr. Ralph McInerny of the University of Notre Dame presenting on "Preambles of the Faith," Dr. Peter Simpson of City University of New York presenting "On Formal Causality," and Dr. Jude Dougherty the Dean Emeritus CUA, School of Philosophy presenting "Uses and Abuses of Metaphor."

The presentations included topics such as: Agreement of "The One" and "The Many,"  Historical Works including Modern Philosophers, and Saint Thomas Aquinas: Synthetic Thomistic Causality.  Under Doctrinal Works such themes as Predicamental Causality, Transcendental Causality, Integration of Both Causalities were presented.  Finally under Applications we heard talks on Instrumental Causality in the Sacraments, the Magisterial Teaching on Biblical Inspiration, and Divine Presence Supernatural Participation and Causality.

We thank God again for this year's opportunity to continue the Thomistic Studies in order to grow in our knowledge and understanding of Truth, striving to serve and glorify God.
