Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará

Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe: Empress of America - December 12th, 2006

In the days leading up to the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Sisters in Avondale, PA organized activities in Her Honor. First, Mrs. Elvira Araiza came from Mexico give a talk about Our Lady, explaining the history and the mysteries of the Tilma of St. Juan Diego, a true code and a living Gospel. Next, there was a day of activities for the youth in which 100 young people participated. There was also a family day which included two expositions on Our Lady of Guadalupe.

On the morning of the Feast Day, the people gathered at the convent at 6:00 AM to sing the famous mañanitas and to begin a candle-lit procession singing to Our Lady. The procession even included visits to some of the mushroom fields where many of the faithful work. The morning concluded with two Masses attended by close to 4,000 people. We give thanks to Our Lady and for all the blessings she has bestowed on us and on all her devoted children!
