Funeral Mass and Burial of Deacon Dermot Francis McLaughlin, IVE (1945-2006)

On November 27th, 2006 at St. John Baptist de la Salle in Chillum, MD, the Funeral Mass was celebrated for Deacon Dermot McLaughlin, IVE, who died November 22nd, 2006 from lung cancer at the age of 61. On the afternoon preceding the Mass, Deacon Dermont’s coffin was received at the Church where a vigil was held. Family, Seminarians and Sisters of our Religious Family, and friends participated in the wake during which Masses were offered every two hours throughout the night and the Holy Rosary was prayed between Masses.

The Funeral Mass was presided over by Theodore Cardinal McCarrick with fifteen IVE priests from the Province of the Immaculate Conception concelebrating along with several diocesan priests. Following the Mass, the coffin was taken to the Gates of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD where Fr. Gustavo Nieto, IVE Provincial Father, performed the burial rite.

We give thanks to God for the vocation of Deacon Dermot to our Religious Family and we pray for the consolation of his family.
