Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará

Solemnity of the Annunciation

Do not be afraid, Mary…you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus (Lk.1:30).

In the announcement of the birth of Jesus, the Angel Gabriel says to Mary to have no fear and that she has been called to bring forth the Son of God.  In 1984, Fr. Carlos Miguel Buela, inspired by the Holy Spirit, founded the Institute of the Incarnate Word, a religious order of missionary priests. Echoing Mary’s response in the Annunciation, the Institute of the Incarnate Word was founded to bring forth the Word of God to all nations trusting in God and going forward without fear.

The Solemnity of the Annunciation marks the 22nd Anniversary of the founding of the Institute of the Incarnate Word. On March 24th, 2006, our Religious Family participated in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass presided by Bishop Dennis J. Sullivan, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of New York, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Harlem, NY.  A reception was held immediately after the Mass to conclude the celebration with our guests, friends, and family.

Celebration at Our Lady of Peace in California
A celebration was also held in California at Our Lady of Peace. The main celebrant of the Mass was Fr. Walter Mallo and concelebrated by all the IVE priests from Our Lady of Peace, Saint Leo, priests of other religious communities and other diocesan priests. At the Mass, Fr. Paul Coleman renewed his religious vows for one year and the Ladies of the Altar Society presented 5 chasubles and several altar cloths that they had made.  A dinner was held immediately following the Mass at the Family Learning Center where over 350 people attended.
