Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará

St. George's Parish in Bridgeport, CT: "Posadas Portorriqueña"

Saint George's Hispanic and Lithuanian communities celebrated Advent and Christmas with "Posadas Portorriqueña" which is a visitation of homes in the parish community that lasts for nine days. During these nine days those faithful participating choose houses that they will go to visit each of the nights during the nine days,  those who visit come asking for entrance into the house on behalf of the Holy Virgin Mary and St. Joseph in memory of them seeking shelter. Upon entrance to the homes they pray the Rosary with the family and celebrate Mass.  In some homes the youth put on a live Nativity scene and sang to the Child Jesus.

The parish community also participated in a pilgrimage for the "Feast of Lights" at shrine of Sanctuary of La Salette. During this time of the year the decoration of is beautiful.  We thank God for our time spent together in celebrating the birth of His Son our Lord Jesus.
